Our Process

A successful cabinet project starts well before construction begins. Our structured, step-by-step process guides each project from initial design through final installation, with clear expectations and careful coordination at every stage.

1. Initial Design & Consultation

Our process begins with your house plans. Using the architectural plans and any available interior elevations, our team prepares preliminary cabinet drawings along with an initial project estimate. These are provided to the builder and/or homeowner for review before we schedule the initial design meeting.

During the design meeting, we sit down with the homeowner, builder, and designer as appropriate to review the plans and preliminary cabinet designs room by room. This is where we begin turning the homeowner’s ideas, preferences, and functional needs into a complete cabinetry plan for the home.

We also review our Design Agreement, which clearly defines the scope of the design process, project responsibilities, expectations, and deliverables. A design deposit is collected to begin the design phase. Once the design phase is complete, the client owns the completed cabinet drawings.

2. Revisions & Final Design Approval

Following the initial meeting, we refine the cabinet drawings based on the homeowner’s feedback and selections. Our Design Agreement includes up to three major design revisions, which is typically sufficient to develop and finalize the cabinetry package.

With each major revision, we provide an updated cost estimate. This allows design decisions and budget considerations to be addressed together rather than waiting until the drawings are complete.

For new home construction, our goal is to have the cabinetry designs approved before framing is completed. Finalizing the designs early gives the builder the information needed to coordinate framing, electrical, plumbing, lighting, and other details that can affect the cabinetry later in the project.

3. Engineering & Field Verification

Once the designs are approved, the project moves into engineering for production. Before anything is built, our team performs multiple site visits to verify field dimensions and compare the actual construction of each room against the approved cabinet drawings.

Homes can change during construction. Walls move, openings change, and field conditions do not always match the original plans. This stage allows us to identify those differences and make the necessary adjustments before the cabinets enter production.

We also review surrounding conditions that could affect the cabinetry, including electrical outlets, switches, lighting, plumbing locations, doors, windows, trim, and other architectural details. Identifying potential conflicts before production helps prevent costly problems during installation.

4. Cabinet Construction

After engineering and field verification are complete, the project moves into production.

Each cabinet is built in our shop by our team of skilled carpenters according to the specifications established during design and confirmed during engineering. Cabinet dimensions, materials, door styles, finishes, storage features, and other details are carefully coordinated to ensure the finished cabinetry reflects the approved design.

5. Delivery, Installation & Finish

As the home approaches the appropriate stage of construction, we coordinate directly with the builder to schedule delivery and installation when the job site is ready.

Our team delivers and installs the cabinetry on-site with careful attention to fit, alignment, and the surrounding finishes. Because we remain involved throughout installation, questions or field conditions can be addressed quickly rather than passed between separate vendors.

We conduct multiple walkthroughs with the builder during the installation process. Any items requiring additional attention are documented and addressed as the project progresses.

6. Final Walkthrough & Completion

Once installation and finishing are complete, we conduct a final walkthrough to review the cabinetry throughout the home.

Any remaining items are documented on a final punch list and addressed by our team. Our goal is simple: to make sure the cabinetry delivered and installed in the home reflects the design that was approved at the beginning of the process.
